Riley Celebrates 20 Years of the Riley Men's Health Fund

The Riley Men’s Health Fund is a project of the San Juan Medical Foundation (SJMF) – a

community-based, independent, 501(c)3, non-profit organization committed to enhancing the

health and well-being of people in the Four Corners community. The Riley Men’s Health Fund

was established in 2004, by Riley Industrial Services, Inc. of Farmington, NM to provide financial

assistance to uninsured, under-insured, and low-income men, 18 years and older, who reside in

San Juan County, NM. This fund assists men with medical exams, procedures, medication, and other

health-related services, primarily cancer-related diagnostic testing, and treatment. The average age is

30-59.

Over the last five years, SJMF has been able to raise over $500,000 for the Riley Men’s Health

Fund by raffling an RZR and trailer. The money raised is used to help men in San Juan County

who are having trouble paying medical bills. In 2023 we assisted 148 men and paid out

$197,640 in financial aid. Since the fund began 20 years ago, we have helped 1,300 men and

assisted with $549,701 in medical bills.

We are excited to announce that this year’s RZR will be a 2024 Polaris RZR Turbo R-4 Sport.

Once again, the unit was purchased through a donation from the Riley Family (not by removing

cash from the Men’s Health Fund) and help from Ultimate Performance UTV. SJMF is currently

looking for donations of upgraded parts and accessories for the Polaris RZR Turbo R-4 Sport.

Anything donated can be written off as an in-kind donation to the extent of the law. We are

fortunate to have a group of fabricators and mechanics willing to install all donated parts for

free.

Men’s Health Facts:

• Only about 62 percent of men have a primary care physician

• Each year over 23,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer

• Over the course of a lifetime half of all men will get cancer at least once

• Every year 392,000 men die from cardiovascular disease

• Depression in men is undiagnosed contributing to the fact that men are four times as likely

to commit suicide

A quote from Mike Richards “I am forever grateful to the Riley Men’s Health Fund for their

generous support, which allowed me to pay off my hospital bill. Keep up the great work with the

fundraisers.”
